NCUI: Co-op Week kicks off with the theme of making India $5tn economy

The states as well as union territories have geared up to celebrate the 70th All India Cooperative Week, which is being celebrated from today i.e. 14th November 2023 to 20th November 2023. The theme of this year is “Role of Cooperatives in Making India a $5 Trillion Economy and SDGs”.

Based on the Cooperative Week celebrations guidelines prepared by NCUI, cooperative organizations at national, state and district levels organize various events, conferences, seminars, workshops, etc during the Cooperative Week.

Many youth-specific events will also be organized during the Cooperative Week celebrations to popularize cooperative models amongst the youth.

NCUI has in its pipeline interesting debates on the subject of cooperation. Some of these include Emerging Areas and Ease-of-Doing Business for Cooperatives, Strengthening Public? Private? Cooperative Partnership and Revamping of Cooperative Education and Training

Several high voltage events have been scheduled for today in which not only cooperators but also a few state cooperative ministers will be present.

The cooperatives including IFFCO, Amul, Nafed, KRIBHCO, Vamnicom and other state level & district level co-ops have planned to organize events in their own style.

According to the information coming to the Indian Cooperative desk “Maharashtra’s Cooperation Minister Dilip Walse Patil will inaugurate the event organized by the Pune District Urban Cooperative Banks Association under the leadership of Subhash Mohite”.

Similarly, National Cooperative Union of India and the Goa State Cooperative Union at the Late Bhanumati Vishnu Shet Sabhagruha Kumbharwada Maem Bicholim Goa in which local MLA Premendra Vishnu Shet and others will take part.

Besides, the Odisha Department of Cooperation is organizing a Walkathon and Cyclothon to celebrate the 70th Cooperative Week and to be flagged off by Antanu Sabyasachi Nayak.

The basic objective of the celebrations is to highlight the achievements of the cooperative sector and chalk out a future strategy for strengthening the cooperative movement.
