National Dairy Development Board highlighted the growing importance of Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs) in fodder and honey sectors during a seminar organised as part of Krishi Vaibhav 2026 – FPO Mela in Thiruvananthapuram.

Addressing the session on “NDDB & its Role in Development of FPOs”, Dr. V. Sridhar said NDDB has been supporting FPOs through training, market linkages, institutional handholding and technical guidance.

He identified dry fodder and honey as key focus areas for FPOs in Kerala and stressed the need for fodder aggregation, hay production, scientific beekeeping and better processing facilities.

Dr. Sridhar also emphasised strengthening producer-buyer linkages through digital platforms such as Open Network for Digital Commerce. He highlighted the role of National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development, cooperative banks and PACS networks in supporting FPO growth.

He reiterated NDDB’s commitment towards building sustainable and digitally connected farmer-producer organisations.
