Bihar Co-ops send vegetables to international markets

The Bihar government is planning to establish vegetable sales centres on the lines of Sudha Dairy to strengthen the marketing network for fresh produce and provide better market access to farmers.

According to an update shared by the state’s cooperative department, the proposed centres aim to create an organised retail system for vegetables similar to the successful Sudha model in the dairy sector. The initiative is expected to help farmers receive fair prices for their produce while ensuring quality vegetables for consumers.

The move is part of Bihar’s broader efforts to promote cooperative-led agricultural marketing and improve supply chain infrastructure in the state. Officials believe the centres will support rural livelihoods, reduce dependence on middlemen and encourage direct linkage between producers and consumers.

The proposed vegetable outlets are expected to further expand the role of cooperatives in Bihar’s agriculture and food distribution sectors.
