Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has directed cooperative department officials to accelerate digitisation and strengthen the state’s cooperative banking network, with mobile app-based transactions set to begin across all Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS).
Reviewing the sector’s progress, the Chief Minister said all 4,536 PACS in the state have now been computerised. He noted that six financially weak district cooperative banks, Rewa, Satna, Jabalpur, Shivpuri, Gwalior and Datia, are being revived through government equity support, while another six banks in Bhind, Morena, Raisen, Sagar, Sidhi and Narmadapuram will be strengthened in the next phase.
A statewide membership drive has also been launched till June 30 with a target of enrolling 10 lakh new members. Officials were further instructed to approve 1.25 lakh new Kisan Credit Cards annually.
Over the past two years, cooperative institutions produced and marketed 14 lakh quintals of certified seeds, formed 1,102 new dairy cooperatives and facilitated the opening of 76,000 bank accounts for members.
The state is also pushing ahead in organic farming, seed production and agricultural exports through the cooperative model.
