Karnataka State Urban Cooperative Banks Federation President H K Patil has stressed the urgent need for Urban Cooperative Banks (UCBs) to adopt modern banking software and digital solutions to remain competitive in the rapidly evolving financial sector.
Chairing a meeting with technology experts and banking representatives at the Federation Hall, Patil observed that UCBs are facing growing competition from commercial, nationalised, private, payment and postal banks.
He said cooperative banks must rapidly modernise their banking systems, strengthen digital infrastructure and adopt advanced technology solutions to improve customer service, operational efficiency and overall banking performance.
The meeting focused on advanced core banking software, digital banking platforms, CTS, switching solutions and other technology-driven banking modules designed to support the functioning of Urban Cooperative Banks in a competitive digital environment.
During the discussions, technology experts made a detailed presentation on the proposed banking solutions and explained how customised digital systems could help cooperative banks streamline operations and enhance governance.
Patil also highlighted the need for customised report generation systems for arbitration cases, board meeting agendas, board proceedings and other administrative requirements specific to Urban Cooperative Banks. He stated that if suitable customised products are developed, the Federation would consider recommending such solutions to cooperative banks across Karnataka.
Several senior cooperative leaders and banking officials attended the meeting, including former Senior Director Rudragouda Patil, Directors M. R. Venkatesh and N.M. Suresh, Special Invitee Raghunath C., Education Fund Advisory Committee members Chandramouli S. and Ambore P. Satish, along with officials from Tumakuru District Central Cooperative Bank and other senior banking representatives.
The meeting proceedings were prepared by M. R. Venkatesh, who was entrusted by the Federation to compile the report following the meeting.
