Cyber Security, Compliance figure at Kerala UCB Summit

Urban Cooperative Banks (UCBs) across Kerala came together at “CoopConnect 2026 – Connect. Collaborate. Grow Together,” a two-day workshop organised by the Kerala Urban Co-operative Banks Federation at Elephant Court Resort on Wednesday to discuss regulatory reforms, cyber security and the future of digital banking in the cooperative sector.

The event was inaugurated by Rajeev Ranjan Thivari, Deputy General Manager, Reserve Bank of India, who highlighted the importance of stronger governance and technology adoption in cooperative banking institutions.

Senior RBI officials conducted sessions on the latest regulatory directives issued in November 2025 and April 2026, including the revised Prompt Corrective Action (PCA) framework for UCBs. Discussions also focused on strengthening compliance culture, cyber security preparedness, digital banking implementation and fintech integration.

The workshop brought together representatives of cooperative banks from across the state, who also participated in panel discussions aimed at consolidating sector-wide recommendations for submission to the new government.

Participants said the programme offered valuable insights into emerging regulatory expectations and technology-driven banking practices, reinforcing the cooperative sector’s commitment toward safer, more efficient and digitally enabled banking services.
