A stakeholder interaction programme was held at the Tilapia Cluster in Raipur, bringing together more than 600 fish farmers, co-operative societies, Fish Farmer Producer Organisations (FFPOs), startups and entrepreneurs to discuss opportunities and challenges in the sector.

Dr. Abhilaksh Likhi, Secretary, Department of Fisheries, Government of India, interacted with stakeholders associated with the Tilapia Cluster and discussed key issues including tilapia production, technical support, market access, export opportunities and other sector-related concerns.

Representatives from the National Fisheries Development Board (NFDB), ICAR-Central Inland Fisheries Research Institute (ICAR-CIFA), Marine Products Export Development Authority (MPEDA), NABARD, as well as fisheries departments of Chhattisgarh and other states, participated in the programme in hybrid mode.

The initiative aimed to strengthen collaboration among fish farmers, cooperatives, entrepreneurs, institutions and other stakeholders and support efforts to enhance tilapia production, productivity and export potential.

The programme highlighted the growing importance of coordinated efforts across the fisheries value chain to create new opportunities for farmers and strengthen India’s tilapia sector.
