Bihar honours Dairy Farmers on Milk Day

The Bihar government marked World Milk Day 2026 with a special programme at COMFED headquarters, chaired by Tirhut Kapil Ashok, Secretary, Department of Dairy, Fisheries and Animal Resources.

On the occasion, COMFED and the Sudha family extended greetings to dairy farmers, members of milk cooperative societies, women milk producers, dairy workers and consumers across the state.

Addressing the gathering, the Secretary highlighted the crucial role of dairy cooperatives in strengthening the rural economy and enhancing farmers’ incomes.

He particularly praised the contribution of women milk producers, noting that the dairy sector has emerged as a reliable source of livelihood for rural households. He said Bihar has been witnessing steady growth in milk production through expanded milk procurement, improved animal healthcare services, artificial insemination programmes and technical support to farmers.

To mark the occasion, outstanding milk cooperative societies, milk vendors, artificial insemination workers and field supervisors were felicitated for their exemplary contribution to the state’s dairy development.
