The Office of the Cooperative Ombudsman has disposed of a complaint filed by Prashant Kumar Soni against Achievers Credit Cooperative Society Ltd., Lucknow, after observing that both parties appeared to have reached an understanding regarding the refund of the disputed deposit amount.
Soni had approached the Ombudsman in December 2025, alleging that the society failed to refund his fixed deposit of Rs 2.70 lakh, which matured after being invested in December 2022.
Despite repeated requests, he claimed that neither the money was returned nor any response was provided by the society.
During the proceedings, the society informed the Ombudsman that it had made partial payments and attributed the delay to a crisis at its Karwi branch. At a video-conference hearing held on April 23, 2026, the society stated that the complainant had agreed to receive the remaining amount in monthly instalments of Rs 50,000.
However, both parties failed to submit written statements despite directions from the Ombudsman.
Taking note of the absence of further submissions and the apparent settlement between the parties, Cooperative Ombudsman Alok Agarwal concluded that no further directions were necessary and closed the case.
