India’s 2026 BRICS Chairship marked a major step in strengthening international cooperation in the livestock sector as the Department of Animal Husbandry & Dairying (DAHD) organised a High-Level Dialogue on Advanced Livestock Technology & Feed Systems virtually from Krishi Bhawan, New Delhi, on June 1.

The dialogue brought together policymakers, researchers, international organisations, and experts from BRICS and partner nations including Brazil, China, Ethiopia, India, Indonesia, Russia, UAE, and Iran. Senior officials including Union Minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh, Minister of State S. P. Singh Baghel, DAHD Secretary Naresh Pal Gangwar, Additional Secretary Varsha Joshi, and NDDB Chairman Meenesh Shah participated in the programme.

Addressing the gathering virtually, Lalan Singh highlighted the livestock sector’s role in rural livelihoods, women’s empowerment, and nutritional security. He stressed the need for innovation and sustainable solutions to tackle challenges such as climate change, feed shortages, low productivity, and animal diseases.

The discussions focused on advanced livestock technologies, resilient feed systems, research collaboration, food security, and sustainable livestock development across BRICS nations.
