Secretary, Ministry of Cooperation, Dr. Ashish Bhutani chaired an inter-ministerial meeting in New Delhi on October 15 to review the progress and implementation roadmap of Bharat Sewa, India’s proposed cooperative-led home services platform.
The meeting at Atal Akshaya Urja Bhawan brought together officials from the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), Ministry of MSME, e-Shram and the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC).
Discussions focused on integrating technology, skill development, training, social security and market access through a coordinated government approach.
Bharat Sewa aims to empower service professionals, including plumbers, electricians and domestic workers, by bringing them into the cooperative ecosystem as member-workers. The model seeks to enable greater ownership, participation and access to economic opportunities for workers who provide essential household services.
The initiative envisages connecting skill development and training systems with digital platforms and social security mechanisms, helping service professionals access a wider market through a cooperative framework.
The meeting reviewed progress and the roadmap for implementation, underlining inter-ministerial coordination in advancing the Ministry of Cooperation’s agenda of strengthening cooperatives and promoting inclusive livelihoods under the vision of Sahkar Se Samriddhi.
