The Assam Cabinet has approved the lease of 33 bighas of land to Kaira District Cooperative Milk Producers’ Union Ltd (AMUL) for setting up a bulk milk cooler and chilling centre in Biswanath. The project is expected to strengthen milk procurement infrastructure and support dairy farmers by improving storage and collection facilities in the region.
The Cabinet also approved amendments to the Assam Shops and Establishments Bill, 2026, to align the proposed legislation with relevant Central laws.
To promote the state’s agar industry, the Cabinet constituted a three-member ministerial group to recommend measures for streamlining the sector and addressing the concerns of stakeholders. The decisions were taken ahead of the Budget Session as part of broader governance and development initiatives.
