A high-level technical session on “Strengthening the Cooperative Ecosystem: The Road Ahead for the Next Five Years” was organised as part of the celebrations marking the fifth Foundation Day of the Ministry of Cooperation, bringing together leaders from the cooperative, financial, dairy and technology sectors to discuss the future of India’s cooperative movement.
The session was moderated by NABARD Chairman Shaji K. V., who reviewed the Ministry’s achievements over the past five years and outlined priorities for the next phase of cooperative development.
ICAI President Prasanna Kumar D. stressed the need for stronger governance, financial discipline and institutional accountability in cooperatives. GCMMF (Amul) Managing Director Dr Jayen Mehta highlighted the success of the Amul model, underscoring the strength of member-driven and professionally managed cooperatives.
NDDB Chairman Dr Meenesh Shah advocated greater convergence and cross-sector collaboration, while Banaskantha Milk Union Chairman and Gujarat Assembly Speaker Shankar Chaudhary presented the Gujarat model as an example of cooperative-led institutional growth.
A recorded message from Infosys Non-Executive Chairman Nandan Nilekani highlighted the transformative potential of artificial intelligence, digital public infrastructure and technology in modernising cooperatives.
The deliberations reaffirmed the sector’s commitment to strengthening governance, accelerating digital transformation, fostering innovation and building a resilient cooperative ecosystem to realise the vision of “Sahkar Se Samriddhi.”
