The Arunachal Pradesh government has signed an MoU with the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) to strengthen the dairy cooperative sector and create an assured market for locally produced milk.
The agreement was signed by the Department of Animal Husbandry, Veterinary and Dairy Development at a ceremony in Itanagar on Monday, where packaged milk supplies to ITBP personnel were also flagged off.
State Minister Gabriel D. Wangsu said the initiative would help increase farmers’ income, generate rural employment and promote dairy entrepreneurship by connecting local producers with institutional buyers.
AHV&DD Secretary YVVJ Rajasekhar outlined plans to strengthen the dairy value chain, covering milk production, collection, processing, packaging and marketing.
ITBP DIG Abu Sufian said the partnership would facilitate regular supplies of quality packaged milk to personnel while creating new market opportunities for local dairy farmers.
