A regional workshop focusing on strengthening India’s cooperative movement and implementing the world’s largest grain storage initiative is being held in Raipur, Chhattisgarh today, on May 22, 2026.
The workshop is being organised with the support of the Ministry of Cooperation and the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD), with participation from representatives of various states and Union Territories.
The programme will mainly focus on the formation and strengthening of two lakh new Multipurpose Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS), dairy cooperatives and fisheries cooperative societies across the country. Discussions will also be held on the effective implementation of the World’s Largest Grain Storage Plan in the cooperative sector.
The initiative is aimed at promoting self-reliance, strengthening rural cooperative infrastructure and expanding the reach of cooperative institutions in agriculture and allied sectors.
The workshop is expected to bring together policymakers, cooperative leaders and officials to discuss strategies for accelerating cooperative-led rural development.
