Vigyan Bhawan: NCUI Prez ready to sit anywhere

Chandra Pal Singh Yadav, President of the apex co-op body NCUI said it does not matter where he sits during the Laxmanrao Inamdar centenary programme slated for September 21 at Vigyan Bhavan in Delhi.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given his assent to inaugurate the show which in turn would see participation by several union ministers. The organizers felt there could be a scramble for seats on the dais.

“See, it is Sahakar Bharati programme and they are celebrating the centenary of their founder; it matters little where do I sit”, said Chandra Pal who is known as a peacemaker in the cooperative circles.

NCUI President said” we are with the Prime Minister if he is eager to strengthen the cooperative movement in the country.” And with the Prime Minister are almost all the top cooperators from across the country from Kashmir to Kanyakumari. There is hardly a prominent cooperator who is not coming to the event, Indian Cooperative has gathered.

According to sources, more than four ministers are expected to take part in the show led by Union Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan Singh. The ministers include Nitin Gadkari, Suresh Prabhu and others.

Inamdar was a RSS ideologue who is said to have exercised a considerable influence on the young pracharak Narendra Modi. Some say Modi treated him as his mentor.

NCUI has on this occasion brought out a book in Hindi on Inamdar detailing his life. Modi is scheduled to release the book which has been vetted thoroughly by the Agriculture Ministry.

Meanwhile, Sahakar Bharati Patron Satish Marathe, who had the luck to work with Inamdar, is in town to give final strokes to the event. A logo was finalized for the show last week. And an exhaustive security arrangement was worked out on Monday.

Given the limited capacity of Vigyan Bhawan, not more than 1200 cooperators could be provided with seats, said one of the organizers. Majority of co-ops invited are multi state co-operatives active at state and central level.

Mrs Upama Srivastava, Additional Secretary in the Agriculture Ministry is overseeing the preparations with the active support of Sahakar Baharati. NCUI and NCDC are also extending a helping hand.
