Nano ascends to Red Fort; becomes part of PM’s I Day speech

One of the finest products that a cooperative could ever gift to the world, IFFCO’s Nano Urea– found a mention in the Prime Minister’s Red Fort speech on the 76th Independence Day on Monday.

While recounting the achievements and challenges before the country Prime Minister Narendra Modi said “Today the factories of Nano Fertilizer have brought a new hope in the country. But natural farming and chemical-free farming can give a boost to self-reliance.”

Further he said “Today, new employment opportunities in the form of green jobs are opening up very fast in the country. India has opened up ‘space’ through its policies. India has come up with the most progressive policy regarding drones in the world. We have opened up new doors of opportunities for the youth of the country.”

Earlier, this year the Prime Minister had dedicated Nano urea to the nation in an impressive program held in Gujarat. Calling it futuristic, Modi said Nano Urea is a perfect example of AatmaNirbhar Bharat.

The cooperative fraternity in general and IFFCO in particular are buoyed up with the mention of Nano from the Red Fort, more so because Modi talked of nothing else from the cooperative sector other than Nano urea due to many issues he had to deal with.

Capturing cooperators’ emotion, the IFFCO MD tweeted thanking the Prime Minister and said that it’s a matter of great joy that the Prime Minister has talked about Nano Urea and Nano manufacturing units in his Independence Day speech. Nano is a true example of a surging India, he added.

Talking to the Indian Cooperative correspondent on the sidelines of onboarding of co-ops on GeM portal last week, the IFFCO MD had informed that work is progressing in earnest for the manufacturing of Nano DAP and other versions of Nano. “IFFCO is confident that Nano DAP would be made available to the farmers of the country by next April”, claimed Dr Awasthi.

On the occasion of the inauguration of several new projects at Sabar Dairy in Himmatnagar in Gujarat last month, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi had again mentioned Nano Urea, among others as gamechangers. The Prime Minister said that steps like neem-coating of urea, opening closed fertiliser plants and promoting Nano fertilisers and ensuring urea availability at affordable prices despite global price hike have benefited the farmers of the country and that of Gujarat.

Among several benefits of Nano Urea, reduction in pollution and saving of huge forex stand out. By 2025 IFFCO will have 10 Nano plants and be producing Nano DAP, Nano Zinc, Sulphur, copper, etc”, said the MD.
