Awasthi entourage touches Hindi heartlands

“Women’ are greatly active in farming activities and this explains why we promote women cooperatives in a big way”, said IFFCO Managing Director Dr U S Awasthi during his farmers connect campaign in Sirsa city of Haryana on Thursday.

After striving to awaken the farmers in the South, East and West India today we have taken plunge along the north India and are going to cover Sirsa and Fatehabad in Haryana, Awasthi said in one of the many tweets on the occasion. Next few days he is going to spend time in Hindi heartlands, said a member of his team.

This was his 85th destination in the nationwide farmers connect campaign.

The IFFCO MD distributed insurance schemes offered by IFFCO Tokio to several women farmers and said insurance is important for them.

As usual, Awasthi explained the importance of cashless transactions to a large number of women who had gathered to meet him. He also urged them to take part in the health checkup camp organized on the occasion.

Besides the common farmers, several notable personalities had assembled to meet IFFCO MD. Dr Vijay Kumar Kayat, Chancellor, Chaudhary Devi Lal University was one of them. Kayat was felicitated by Awasthi with a shawl.

IFFCO Director Prahalad Singh turned emotional on the occasion and told the meaning of MD’s name Uday Shankar Awasthi to people. “It means-the one who brings sunshine in the lives of farmers”, Prahalad explained.

Speaking on the occasion, IFFCO Joint General Manager Yogendra Kumar talked about the products of fertilizer cooperative and also about the need to adopt the digital platform to buy IFFCO products.

Awasthi inaugurated a farmers’ exhibition organized by its subsidiaries and participated in a cultural event where artists performed on IFFCO’s Theme Song.
