Co-operators & politicians vie to congratulate Sanghani

Congratulatory messages poured down in torrents as soon as the news of Dileep Sanghani becoming the Chairman of IFFCO became public. All the modes of communication- phone calls, WhatsApp, Twitter, Facebook remained active throughout the Wednesday.

The development was captured well by Nafcub President and Emergency days’ associate of Sanghani, Jyotindra Mehta. Mehta wrote, “Highest position of Co-operative sector not only NCUI but IFFCO also”.

But it was not only co-operators but also political leaders who lost no time in congratulating Dileep Sanghani for being elected unopposed as the new Chairman of fertilizer cooperative IFFCO, in an election held on Wednesday. The social media platforms were flooded with congratulatory messages.

Soon after the election, Sanghani met the Union Minister of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, and Dairying Parshottam Rupala at his residence. Congratulating on his victory, Rupala shared the photographs on Twitter and wrote, ” Best wishes to Shri Dileep Sanghani, on being elected as the Chairman of IFFCO, a cooperative organization that developed Nano Urea for the first time in the world”.

There were many others including Union Minister of State for Cooperation BL Verma, Former Union Minister Suresh Prabhu, Gujarat Cabinet Minister R C Makwana, BJP MLA from Bharuch Dushyant Patel, Former Member of Parliament Dilip Patel and other prominent political leaders congratulated him on his election.

Besides, the representatives of cooperative organizations including NCDC Managing Director Sundeep Nayak, Nafed Managing Director Sanjeev Chadha, Amul Vice-Chairman Valamji R Humbal, Biscomaun Chairman Sunil Kumar Singh, and others also sent their greetings to Sanghani through social media.

Banas Dairy Chairman Shankar Choudhary wrote, “Heartfelt greetings for being elected as the Chairman of IFFCO, the largest cooperative organization in the nation. His experience at grassroots & administrative acumen will take the organization to greater heights. I wish him the very best”.

The WhatsApp group known as “Bharatiya Sahakari Samvad” comprising cooperators across the country had also greeted Sanghani.

Similarly, another WhatsApp group run by Sahakar Bharati Karyakartas, known as “Bina Sahakar Nahi Sanskar” also congratulated Sanghani. There are three-four more WhatsApp groups run by co-operators of different regions that congratulated Sanghani on his victory.

It bears recall that the post had been vacant due to the sudden demise of the incumbent Chairman Balvinder Singh Nakai earlier on 11th October 2021.

The elected Board of Directors of IFFCO unanimously elected Dileep Sanghani as the 17th Chairman of IFFCO. He was earlier serving as Vice Chairman, IFFCO.

Dileep Bhai Sanghani is a Senior co-operator from Gujarat and he is also the chairman of Gujarat State Cooperative Marketing Federation Ltd. (GUJCOMASOL), a post he has held since 2017. He is a former minister of Agriculture, Co-operation Animal Husbandry, Fisheries, Cow-Breeding, Prison, Excise Law & Justice, Legislative & Parliamentary Affairs in the cabinet of the Gujarat Government.

He was elected as the Vice-Chairman of IFFCO in the year 2019. In a historic feat in the year 2021, Dileep Sanghani was elected to the position of the President of the National Cooperative Union of India (NCUI), the apex body of Cooperatives in India.
