Shah’s Magic: Co-op Portal notes unprecedented readership
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Never before was Indian media so agog with the subject ‘cooperative’ as it has been in the last week when Union Minister Amit Shah addressed a mega Co-op Conference. There is hardly a news channel or a newspaper that has missed the story. Indian Cooperative, which covers cooperative alone, has published more than a dozen stories on the subject.

Union Minister Amit Shah, who promised to bring co-op centre stage in the govt scheme of things during his address before the conference, has already done so far as the media is concerned, quipped a co-operator.

Our stories have also received positive reviews and collected clicks in millions across the globe. Always the one to delve deeper and do a detailed story, Indian Cooperative pieces have broken all past records so far as readership engagement is concerned.

Our story “Nobody can ignore co-op any longer; Shah’s clarion call from Podium” has gathered impressions in lakhs with several people expressing thumbs up for the piece. “It’s a pent-up frustration of the sector that their contributions to society have never been acknowledged and this explains why people are reading this again and again”, said a Delhi-based co-operator.

Another piece that has caught the headlines is “IFFCO’s conduct restores peoples’ faith in co-ops: Awasthi. The piece by us and the statement by the IFFCO MD perhaps touched a raw nerve among co-operators who have got tired of negative publicity of cooperatives.

“It sucks us and hurts our pride”, lamented a co-operator.

The piece on the ICA’s President speech during the mega co-op conference “Diversity of co-op sector in India speaks of its power: ICA Prez” was also received very well. It was an endorsement of what we always believed. Co-operative is an idea embedded in Indian culture from time immemorial, said many.

Nafcub President Jyotindra Mehta’s comparison of Amit Shah with Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel was also lapped up by the netizens as the AW Stats for the same is showing more than a million clicks. The title “Shah will finish Sardar Patel’s unfinished job: Mehta” has also been commented upon extensively.

The story on Shah lauding IFFCO for its Nano Urea innovation and calling it a kind of revolution for farmers has also garnered more than 10 million impressions, according to AW Stats. Titled “IFFCO’s Nano Urea, a revolution for Agri sector: Shah”, the story has been music to the ears of those who know the working of IFFCO and its MD Dr U S Awasthi.

Last but not least, the story titled “Chandra Pal raises co-op taxation; Shah assures help” has also garnered more clicks than expected. The issue of maltreatment to co-ops and assurance from the Minister was a big achievement for the sector, felt co-operators.

It bears recall that the Indian cooperative scene has been energized as never before in the aftermath of the address of Union Cooperation Minister Amit Shah to more than 50 million co-operators across the globe.

Other stories have also been received well. We give below the list of stories done on the event.
