Sumul Dairy: Two panels win equal seats; fight on for Chairmanship

The much-awaited election results of Sumul Dairy have finally come out on Sunday. Both the panels won 8- each and now the big question who will become the Chairman and Vice-Chairman.

The panels are led by Raju Pathak and Mansinhbhai Patel.

Earlier Bharatiya Janata Party top leadership had failed to resolve the differences between the two panels in spite of the fact that both the leaders of the both panels are staunch leaders of BJP.

It is being said the majority of winning candidates are from BJP and a few from the congress. Though several winning candidates said Home Minister Amit Shah had taken a special interest in the Sumul election.

There are reports that some candidates have won with a very narrow margin of votes. In one seat of Songadh Taluka in Tapi District, both Arvind Gamit fought the election from the panel of Mansinhbhai Patel and Kanti Gamit fought from Raju Pathak panel got equal votes. On this seat, Returning officer conducted the election on a slip basis and Kanti Gamit won the election.

The names of winning candidates from the Raju Pathak panel include, Kanti Gamit (Songadh Taluka), Ajit Patel (Bardoli Taluka), Bharat Patel (Nizar Taluka), Sunil Gamit (Uchchhal Taluka), Sandeep Desai (Choryasi), Resabhai Chaudhari (Mandvi Taluka), Sanjay Suryavanshi (Kukarmunda Taluka).

And the names of those winning from the Mansinhbhai Patel include, Ritesh Vasava (Umarpada Taluka), Siddharth Choudhary (Vyara Taluka), Naresh Patel (Valod), Jayesh Patel (Olpad Taluka), Bharat Singh Solanki (Palsana), Shailesh Gamit (Dolvan Taluka) Balwantbhai Patel (Kamrej Taluka).

Besides, the date of elections for Chairman and Vice-Chairman have not been announced but there is speculation that it will be announced soon. The Sumul Dairy board consists of 16 directors. There are nine and seven Talukas in Surat and Tapi District respectively and only one director elected from each Taluka.

It bears recall that on an average 783 voters had cast their votes and the voting. percent was 98 percent.

The term will be five years. Sumul is one of the milk unions of GCMMF which sells its products under the brand name of Amul.
