Kamdhenu on Amul’s footsteps

Oil India has taken the unprecedented initiative of setting up a dairy cooperative patterned on Gujarat’s famed ‘Amul’ model in collaboration with Assam govt as part of its corporate social responsibility.

The company’s chairman Sunil Kumar Srivastava said in Guwahati the project would be tagged as Kamdhenu and come to fruition in 3 to 5 years.

According to Srivastava, the Oil India is already in touch with the Assam govt. hassing out the details of the project. The milk cooperative would most probably be located in upper Assam, he informed.

Mr Srivastava added as the oil India has no experience in doing milk business it would closely work together with the state govt. and like to follow the Amul blueprint in its entirety.

The Oil India milk cooperative would be successful and finally be able to cater to the dairy needs of the entire North East, he claimed.
