Will B M Vyas take over NDDB?

Former Amul Managing Director BM Vyas is one of the potential candidates to take over as the Chairman of the National Dairy Development Board that controls Mother Dairy. Name of Shankar Chaudhary, a BJP leader and Chairman of Banas is also doing round for the job.

Earlier, T Nanda Kumar Chairman of the National Dairy Development Board that controls Mother Dairy, has put in his papers before the usual time , he still had three more years to clock up , reports ET.

B M Vyas was the Managing Director of GCMMF whom the current MD R S Sodhi replaced 5-6 years ago. There were controversies galore at the time of Vyas exit. The spat between him and the then Chairman of GCMMF Parthibhia Bhatol was widely covered by media.

Kumar, a former agriculture secretary became chairman of the NDDB in 2014, succeeding Amrita Patel. The 65-year-old former IAS officer belonging to the Bihar-Jharkhand cadre was the first bureaucrat to be appointed as the NDDB chief.

Legendary Milkman Verghese Kurien had formed the National Dairy Development Board in 1965 to replicate the Amul model of dairy cooperatives in parts of India.
