A high-level review meeting on September 28 in New Delhi assessed the progress of cooperative-sector schemes being implemented in West Bengal and set targets for completion by March 2027. The meeting was chaired by Cooperation Secretary Dr. Ashish Bhutani at Atal Akshaya Urja Bhawan in the presence of senior officials.
Representatives of NABARD, NDDB, NFDB, FCI, NCCF and NAFED presented updates on key initiatives, including computerisation of PACS, formation of 2 lakh new multipurpose PACS, dairy and fisheries cooperatives, decentralised grain storage and consumer stores.
The review also covered fertilizer business, Jan Aushadhi centres, e-services, seeds, organic products, exports and cooperative financial services. Officials discussed action plans for the next three and six months, along with promotional strategies aligned with the March 2027 targets.
The meeting reflects the Ministry of Cooperation’s effort to accelerate implementation of its cooperative-sector initiatives at the state level and strengthen grassroots institutions. Particular emphasis was placed on expanding the economic activities of PACS and other cooperatives beyond traditional credit functions, in line with the “Sahkar Se Samriddhi” vision.
