Maharashtra-based Vasai Vikas Sahakari Bank (VVSB) recently organised a series of cyber security and digital banking awareness programmes across its branches in Vasai, Navghar, Virar, Nallasopara, Safale and Palghar to help customers protect themselves against online fraud.
Conducted by the bank’s IT Department, the sessions covered cyber threats such as phishing, fake SMS messages, malicious links, OTP and UPI fraud, QR code scams, identity theft and investment frauds. Customers were advised never to share confidential banking information and to rely only on the bank’s official communication channels.
The bank also demonstrated its VVSB Mobi-Fast mobile banking app, highlighting secure features such as biometric authentication, Face ID, fund transfers, bill payments, digital deposits and complaint registration. It also showcased digital banking solutions designed for cooperative housing societies.
Chairman Ashay Raut said customer awareness is as important as technology in ensuring secure digital banking, while CEO Dilip Thakur stressed that informed customers are the strongest defence against cyber fraud.
Chief Information Security Officer Ashok HN Tiwari said cyber security is a shared responsibility between the bank and its customers, urging them never to share OTPs, passwords, MPINs or card details and to use the bank’s official channels and built-in security features for safe digital banking.
