Uttarakhand Co-op Fed Plans revival of dormant Units

The Uttarakhand State Cooperative Federation has prepared a roadmap to revive two long-dormant cooperative industrial units in the state, targeting an annual turnover of Rs 100 crore, media reports say.

Under the plan, the Co-operative Drug Factory in Ranikhet and Uttarakhand State Medicine and Paramedicals Ltd (UMPL) in Halduchaur will undergo extensive modernisation to strengthen industrial growth and the rural economy.

Officials said both facilities will be upgraded with modern machinery, advanced laboratories, and improved production systems. The revived units are expected to focus on manufacturing traditional Ayurvedic medicines and related healthcare products.

The initiative is aimed at creating employment opportunities, promoting cooperative-led industrial development, and enhancing Uttarakhand’s presence in the Ayurvedic and paramedical sectors through modernised production infrastructure.
