Tirunelveli Joint Assessing Officers (JAOs) organised an outreach programme for Primary Agricultural Cooperative Credit Societies (PACCS) on Tuesday at the Tirunelveli District Central Cooperative Bank, focusing on taxation and compliance requirements for cooperative institutions.
The programme covered key provisions and changes under the Income-tax Act, 2025, along with important aspects of Income Tax Return (ITR) and audit report filing. Participants were also briefed on e-filing procedures, eligible tax deductions and exemptions, and Tax Deducted at Source (TDS) compliance.
More than 40 cooperative society secretaries and office-bearers participated in the programme and discussed issues related to tax compliance and filing requirements.
The initiative was conducted under the guidance of Vivekanandan, IRS, Principal Commissioner of Income Tax, and the directions of Yassar Arafath, IRS, Additional Commissioner of Income Tax, Tirunelveli Range.
The outreach programme provided PACCS representatives with an opportunity to understand recent tax-related changes and strengthen compliance practices within the cooperative credit sector.
