A coordination meeting of the Sikkim Cooperation Department was held on September 19 at Sahakari Bhawan, Tadong, under the chairmanship of Cooperation, RDD and Panchayati Raj Minister Arun Kumar Upreti.
Presentations by the Department headquarters, district offices and apex cooperative societies covered progress, ongoing activities, achievements and key areas requiring attention in the cooperative sector.
Reviewing the presentations, Upreti stressed better coordination and effective implementation of cooperative initiatives across the State. He announced that the next coordination meeting would be held after three months to review progress and follow-up action.
The Minister also assured continued support to the Department and cooperative institutions, with particular emphasis on effective implementation of the Kisan Credit Card (KCC) interest subvention initiative to strengthen farmers’ access to credit through cooperatives.
PRCS-cum-Secretary Jabi Thapa presented a consolidated summary and directed district offices and apex societies to ensure timely follow-up. The meeting concluded with emphasis on coordinated action, regular monitoring and effective programme implementation.
