Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah handed over the registration certificate to one of the 11 newly registered multi-purpose rural cooperative societies in West Bengal during the groundbreaking ceremony of the world’s largest curd production plant.
The registration of these new cooperatives marks a significant step towards expanding the cooperative movement in rural areas and strengthening grassroots institutions. The initiative is aimed at promoting self-reliance, improving access to essential services and creating sustainable livelihood opportunities for rural communities through the cooperative model.
The newly formed multi-purpose rural cooperative societies are expected to support a wide range of economic activities, benefiting farmers, rural entrepreneurs and local residents. They will also play an important role in enhancing agricultural productivity, improving market access and fostering community-led development.
The initiative aligns with the Ministry of Cooperation’s vision of “Sahkar Se Samriddhi” by empowering rural cooperatives and accelerating inclusive development. It is expected to further deepen the cooperative network in West Bengal while contributing to employment generation and the socio-economic progress of rural communities.
