Dr Ashish Bhutani, Secretary, Ministry of Cooperation, chaired a high-level meeting on November 5, 2026, at Atal Akshaya Urja Bhawan, New Delhi, to review the business activities and operational performance of subsidiary companies of Indian Farmers Fertiliser Cooperative Limited (IFFCO).
The meeting examined the diverse business operations of IFFCO’s subsidiaries and their contribution to strengthening the cooperative ecosystem. Discussions covered the cooperative’s expanding presence across several sectors, including fertilisers, agricultural inputs, crop sciences, financial services, insurance, logistics, digital retail and international operations.
The review highlighted how IFFCO’s diversification beyond its traditional fertiliser business reflects the growing capacity of cooperative institutions to explore new business opportunities, expand their operational footprint and contribute to India’s economic growth.
The discussions also focused on related matters concerning the functioning of subsidiary companies and their role in advancing the cooperative movement under the government’s vision of ‘Sahkar Se Samriddhi’.
The meeting was attended by Pankaj Kumar Bansal, Additional Secretary; Raman Kumar, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Cooperation; K. J. Patel, Managing Director, IFFCO; and senior officials from the Ministry, IFFCO and its subsidiary companies.
The review assumes significance as IFFCO continues to expand its business interests across multiple sectors, demonstrating how a cooperative organisation can develop a diversified business ecosystem while retaining its farmer-centric character.
