In a major milestone for Mizoram’s banking sector, Mizoram Cooperative Apex Bank Ltd. has been granted ‘Scheduled Bank’ status, marking a significant leap in its institutional journey.

As per the Gazette of India notification dated April 15, 2026, the bank has been included in the Second Schedule of the Reserve Bank of India Act, 1934. This recognition places the bank among select institutions eligible for enhanced regulatory and financial privileges under the RBI framework.

Established on July 31, 1982, the Apex Bank has steadily expanded its footprint, serving the people of Mizoram through decades of cooperative banking. The latest development is being seen as a testament to its consistent growth and financial stability.

Bank officials expressed gratitude to the State Government, RBI, National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development, and the Cooperation Department for their continued support.

With the new status, the bank aims to further strengthen its services, expand outreach, and deliver more efficient and inclusive banking solutions to the people of Mizoram.
