Addressing a press conference, NCUI Governing Council Member and Chairman of Mumbai District Central Cooperative Bank Pravin Darekar said recent decisions by the Maharashtra Revenue Department will help accelerate the self-redevelopment of cooperative housing societies.
Darekar said the department has decided to facilitate the recording of a housing society’s name in revenue records after deemed conveyance, without requiring a fresh hearing on ownership.
He also called for a time-bound process for updating property cards and 7/12 extracts, along with an online mutation process to reduce delays and repeated visits to government offices.
He said the government has also decided to review the collection of non-agricultural (NA) tax, despite its withdrawal, and examine refunds where such charges were wrongly collected. Clarity on old arrears will also be addressed, he said.
On ULC-reserved flats, Darekar said a uniform procedure will be formulated covering their status, ownership, use and transfer, with a nodal officer coordinating among the Revenue, Housing, Urban Development and MHADA departments.
Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule has accepted these four demands, and a government resolution is expected shortly, Darekar said.
