The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has extended its restrictive directions on two cooperative banks in Maharashtra and Karnataka for another three months, until January 30, 2027.
The banks are Sonpeth Nagari Sahakari Bank Maryadit, Sonpeth, in Maharashtra’s Parbhani district, and Lokapavani Mahila Sahakari Bank Niyamitha, Mandya, Karnataka.
In the case of Sonpeth Nagari Sahakari Bank, the RBI had initially imposed directions on July 29, 2025, for six months. These restrictions were subsequently extended until October 30, 2026. The latest order extends them until the close of business on January 30, 2027.
Similarly, directions imposed on Lokapavani Mahila Sahakari Bank on July 29, 2025, have also been extended for three months.
The RBI clarified that the extensions should not be construed as indicating satisfaction with the financial position of either bank. All other terms and conditions of the existing directions will remain unchanged, and the extensions are subject to review.
