Kolhapur-based Sanmati Sahakari Bank has elected young co-operative leader and M.Tech graduate Shidhant Patil as its Chairman, succeeding his father and veteran co-operative leader Sunil Patil. Appasaheb Patil has been elected as the Vice Chairman of the bank.
The appointments have been approved by the Co-operative Election Authority under the Union Ministry of Cooperation.
Patil’s elevation marks a generational transition in the leadership of the bank and is expected to bring fresh perspectives to the bank’s governance and growth initiatives.
It may be recalled that the bank’s board comprises 17 directors. Earlier, six directors had been declared elected unopposed. However, their elections were subsequently found liable for rejection, resulting in vacancies on the board.
Fresh elections for the six vacant director posts are expected to be held shortly, following which the board will be fully constituted.
