The NEDAC delegation began its visit to Sri Lanka with an Executive Committee Meeting, chaired by Pankaj Kumar Bansal, Chairman of NEDAC and Additional Secretary, Ministry of Cooperation, Government of India.
Highlighting the longstanding ties between India and Sri Lanka, he emphasized the role of cooperatives in driving sustainable development and capacity-building across the Asia–Pacific region.
Day Two featured the International Seminar of NEDAC, organized in association with ICA-AP, titled “Furthering Climate-Resilient, Smart, and Sustainable Agriculture through Cooperatives in Asia and the Pacific.”
The seminar opened with remarks by Bansal, followed by Balasubramaniam Iyer, Regional Director of ICA-AP. Insightful case studies were presented by Hirofumi Kobayashi (Japan) and Jyoti Saroop (India), showcasing cooperative-led innovations in agriculture and marketing.
The NEDAC delegation comprises representatives from NCUI, NAFSCOB, PHDCCI, Mulkanoor Cooperative Rural Credit & Marketing Society, NCDC, CDA, IFFCO, NAFED, NFDB, and NCEL, reflecting a collaborative effort to strengthen cooperative networks in the region.
