The Government plans to eliminate the need for manual record-keeping at Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS) through its computerisation project, with the sunset date set for March 31, 2027, Cooperation Minister Amit Shah informed the Lok Sabha on Tuesday.

Replying to a question by Vijay Baghel, Shah said agricultural loan, fertiliser, seed distribution and audit operations across 311 PACS in Durg, Balod and Bemetara districts under the District Cooperative Central Bank, Durg, are already being conducted online.

However, some physical records and registers continue to be maintained due to administrative and statutory requirements as well as server and network issues.

Shah said the PACS Computerization Project, launched in 2022, aims to shift PACS business operations to an ERP-based Common National Software, reducing the need for manual records.

The project is designed to enable online record maintenance, transparent accounting, seamless reconciliation with DCCBs and StCBs, faster loan processing, lower transaction costs and improved services for cooperative members.
