The Cooperative Ombudsman has resolved a refund dispute involving Diamond Multi State Cooperative Group Housing Society Ltd., Noida, after the society returned nearly Rs 10 lakh deposited by a member for a 2 BHK flat whose project failed to materialise.
The matter was brought before Cooperative Ombudsman Alok Agarwal by Shri Manish Kumar, who said he had deposited Rs 9,94,020 with the society for the proposed housing project. After the project could not proceed, Kumar sought a refund but initially received no response.
Following intervention by the Ombudsman’s office, the society said it could not obtain the required Land Transfer Certificate due to government policies and procedural and administrative factors. During a hearing on June 3, the society assured that it was ready to repay the complainant in a single instalment.
Subsequently, both parties signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on June 17, 2026. The society confirmed that Rs 9,94,020 had been refunded through a demand draft dated June 12.
The Ombudsman, in an order dated August 24, declared the complaint resolved and closed.
