The National Fisheries Development Board (NFDB) stall, along with six exhibition stalls showcasing ICAR-CMFRI, NIFPHATT, MSSRF and three private seaweed entrepreneurs, was inaugurated in Puducherry by Union Fisheries Minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh alias Lalan Singh.
The inauguration was attended by Minister of State Prof. S. P. Singh Baghel, Puducherry Lieutenant Governor K. Kailashnathan, Chief Minister N. Rangasamy, Secretary, Department of Fisheries Dr. Abhilaksh Likhi, and NFDB Chief Executive Dr. Bijay Kumar Behera.
The NFDB stall showcased various fisheries development schemes and initiatives of the Government of India, highlighting opportunities and support available to stakeholders across the fisheries sector.
A dedicated CSC registration facility for the National Fisheries Digital Platform (NFDP) was also set up at the stall to facilitate registration of fishermen and promote digital inclusion.
The exhibition was organised as part of the launch of fisheries infrastructure projects under PMMSY and a multi-dimensional capacity-building conclave on cooperative-led seaweed farming under the Blue Economy.
