Former State Home Minister of Nepal and Chairman of the Nepal Cooperative Federation, Deepak Prakash Baskota, visited the Gujarat State Cooperative Union (GSCU) in Ahmedabad, where he held discussions with GSCU Chairman Ganshyambhai Amin on cooperative education, training and the development of the cooperative sector.
During the visit, Baskota was briefed on the various activities undertaken by the GSCU and its centres, particularly in the areas of cooperative education, capacity building, training and management. Amin welcomed the Nepalese cooperative leader and presented him with a book on the Gujarat Cooperative Societies Act authored by him.
GSCU officials also participated in the meeting and shared information about the Union’s initiatives and programmes. Baskota appreciated the educational and training-oriented work being carried out by the GSCU and its centres and congratulated the organisation for its contribution to strengthening the cooperative movement.
Amin and Baskota also exchanged experiences and ideas on strengthening cooperatives and promoting their role in economic and social development. The interaction provided an opportunity to discuss common challenges and opportunities facing the cooperative sector in both countries.
The visit was seen as an important step towards strengthening cooperative ties between India and Nepal. Both sides emphasised the importance of sharing knowledge, experience and best practices to further promote cooperative values and development in the region.
