NDDB Chairman Dr Meenesh Shah interacted with dairy farmers and professionals from Sri Lanka participating in an international training programme on “Dairy Development through Cooperative Business Model” at the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB), Anand.
Organised in coordination with the High Commission of India in Sri Lanka, the programme seeks to strengthen regional cooperation and build the capacity of Sri Lankan farmers and dairy professionals by sharing India’s successful cooperative dairy development experience and NDDB’s expertise in dairy and allied sectors.
Dr Shah reaffirmed NDDB’s commitment to supporting developing countries through knowledge sharing and technical cooperation. He assured the visiting delegates of NDDB’s readiness to collaborate and also held individual interactions with the participants.
Discussions focused on productivity enhancement, including the use of sex-sorted semen and advances in animal breeding, scientific feeding and animal health. The programme covered dairy cooperatives, balanced rations, preventive animal care, ethno-veterinary practices, milk quality assurance and the use of information technology across the dairy value chain.
As part of the exposure programme, the Sri Lankan delegation visited NDDB initiatives at Mujkuva village, along with its Product & Process Development Laboratory, Fodder Demonstration Unit, NDDB Calf Rearing Programme and Indian Dairy Machinery Company facilities. The participants also visited Amul Dairy and the Amul Chocolate Plant, gaining first-hand exposure to India’s integrated cooperative dairy ecosystem.
