Programme Officers from the National Cooperative Development Corporation (NCDC) Regional Office, Chandigarh, Prashasth Neelakantan and Dhiraj, visited Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS) across Punjab to assess their functioning, challenges and development requirements.
During the field visit, the NCDC officials held direct interactions with PACS representatives and gathered first-hand information on issues affecting their day-to-day operations and future growth.
The discussions focused on identifying practical areas where NCDC’s financial and developmental support can help PACS strengthen their operations, diversify activities and improve their long-term viability.
The visit assumes significance as PACS are increasingly being positioned as grassroots-level institutions capable of delivering multiple services and supporting rural economic activities beyond traditional credit functions.
The interaction also provided an opportunity to connect the needs of village-level cooperative institutions with available institutional support mechanisms.
