The National Cooperative Development Corporation (NCDC) has sanctioned Rs 200 crore in working capital assistance to the Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF), which markets dairy products under the Amul brand.
The assistance is aimed at strengthening GCMMF’s business operations, supporting the cooperative dairy sector and ensuring timely payments to dairy farmers.
NCDC Deputy Managing Director Rohit Gupta handed over the sanction letter to GCMMF Managing Director Jayen Mehta in New Delhi.
The working capital support is expected to provide greater financial flexibility to the dairy cooperative and help sustain its operations amid the growing scale of the dairy business.
The sanction also highlights NCDC’s focus on strengthening partnerships with leading cooperative institutions and supporting the sustainable growth of India’s dairy cooperative movement.
The latest assistance comes as cooperatives play an increasingly important role in strengthening farmer incomes, expanding value addition and building resilient agricultural supply chains.
With Amul being one of the country’s largest dairy cooperative networks, the Rs 200-crore facility is expected to further support its operations and its engagement with dairy farmers.
