The National Cooperative Development Corporation (NCDC) on Tuesday organised a workshop on “Cooperative Sugar Sector in India- Current Scenario & Emerging Opportunities” to deliberate on the challenges, opportunities and future roadmap for strengthening India’s cooperative sugar industry.
Organised by NCDC’s Sugar Division, the workshop brought together representatives of the National Federation of Cooperative Sugar Factories, State Cooperative Sugar Federations from Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Punjab and Uttarakhand, along with officials from Indian Potash Limited (IPL).
The discussions focused on the current status of cooperative sugar mills across different states, key operational and financial challenges, emerging business opportunities and the role of NCDC in modernising and strengthening the sector.
Participants also deliberated on measures to enhance competitiveness, promote value addition, improve operational efficiency and ensure sustainable growth of cooperative sugar enterprises.
