Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday informed the Lok Sabha that the cooperative-led ride-hailing platform Bharat Taxi has not yet been officially launched in Uttar Pradesh, including the Purvanchal region, though it is currently operating in Delhi-NCR, Gujarat and Maharashtra.
Replying to a question in the House, Shah said Bharat Taxi is operated by Sahakar Taxi Cooperative Limited (STCL), a multi-state cooperative society registered under the Multi-State Cooperative Societies Act, 2002. The platform has been developed as a cooperative-led digital mobility initiative.
The Minister clarified that the Government has not incurred any expenditure on the development, promotion, maintenance or operation of the app. All expenses are being met by STCL from its own capital.
Shah also said STCL periodically reviews the app’s performance by assessing customer experience, complaints, fare competitiveness, platform efficiency and technology systems.
Based on user feedback and review findings, the cooperative undertakes corrective measures, including strengthening the technology platform, resolving software issues, enhancing app features, reviewing fare-related aspects and improving overall service delivery through regular technical and operational monitoring.
