NAFED, NCCF review Grain Storage Plan with Secretary

The Ministry of Cooperation on Tuesday reviewed the progress of the ambitious World’s Largest Grain Storage Plan in the cooperative sector, with focus on accelerating godown construction and strengthening district-level storage infrastructure across States.

A virtual meeting chaired by Ashish Kumar Bhutani at Atal Akshay Urja Bhawan, New Delhi, was attended by Nafed MD Deepak Agarwal and NCCF MD Anice Joseph Chandra, along with senior ministry officials.

Discussions centred on district and location-wise storage requirements, identification of PACS and cooperative societies for the project, status of hiring assurances issued by States and the roadmap for timely grounding and completion of godowns.

The review also assessed implementation timelines and coordination mechanisms aimed at speeding up the rollout of the mega cooperative storage initiative, which is expected to strengthen rural supply chains and reduce post-harvest losses.

Siddharth Jain and other senior officials of the ministry also participated in the meeting.
