Mizoram has surpassed its target for forming Multipurpose Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (MPACS) in 2025–26, achieving 142 societies against the planned 119, marking a significant boost to the cooperative sector in the state. The achievement highlights the growing momentum in strengthening grassroots cooperatives and expanding rural financial and business services.
A felicitation ceremony was held at NABARD office in Aizawl, where certificates of appreciation were presented to key contributors. The honours were awarded by Udit Prakash Rai, recognising the efforts of resource persons and district officials who played a crucial role in achieving the milestone.
Officials said the expansion of MPACS will enhance credit access, diversify activities, and support rural livelihoods across Mizoram.
