The Meghalaya Cabinet on Tuesday approved an amendment to the Meghalaya Cooperative Societies Act, 2015, replacing the words “registered post” with “speed post” in Section 21(1).
Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma described it as a minor nomenclature change, following an advisory from the Government of India’s Department of Posts.
The Centre has asked state governments to update the terminology, as speed post has replaced registered post in the postal system.
The Cabinet also approved the list of government holidays for 2027, which remains unchanged from the previous year.
