The National Fisheries Digital Platform (NFDP) campaign and Pradhan Mantri Matsya Kisan Samridhi Sah-Yojana (PM-MKSSY) mobilisation programme were successfully conducted at Agatti, Lakshadweep, with active participation from local fishers, boat and craft owners, Self-Help Groups (SHGs), Fisheries Cooperative Societies (FCSs) and fisheries entrepreneurs.
The programme focused on creating awareness about various government initiatives aimed at strengthening the fisheries sector and improving the livelihoods of fishing communities.
Key interventions highlighted during the campaign included fishing boat upgradation, motorisation and fabrication of insulated storage facilities to improve fishing operations and post-harvest management.
Representatives of Fisheries Cooperative Societies and other participants were sensitised about the benefits of various Government of India fisheries schemes and guided on accessing financial and other available support.
Special emphasis was placed on facilitating enrolment, with hands-on assistance provided to participants in filling out application forms to ensure that eligible beneficiaries could access the schemes.
