Maharashtra Cooperation Minister Babasaheb Patil informed the Legislative Assembly that the state has fully digitised the registration process for cooperative housing societies through the Aaple Sarkar Portal from April 1, 2026, to make registrations faster, simpler and more transparent.
Replying to a question by MLA Atul Bhatkhalkar, Patil said the number of mandatory documents required for registration has been reduced from 29 to 16, significantly easing the compliance burden on applicants.
The minister said the online system enables registration of societies in authorised buildings across major urban centres, including Mumbai, Thane and Pune. However, he clarified that cooperative societies in unauthorised buildings cannot be registered as such registrations are not legally permissible.
Patil also informed the House that an online facility for bye-law amendments has been available on the portal since June 19, 2026. Since the launch of the online registration system, 76 cooperative housing societies have registered through the portal.
He added that the Commissioner for Cooperation and Registrar of Cooperative Societies has directed all regional offices to accept only online applications for society registration and bye-law amendments, reinforcing the state’s push towards paperless, transparent and efficient governance.
