Gujarat-based Kheti Bank has announced a special incentive encouraging employees to use public transport, following Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent appeal for fuel conservation and economic self-reliance amid global economic uncertainty.

Bank Chairman Dolar Kotecha said the Prime Minister’s “Nation First” call had inspired him to adopt trains and other public transport for his travel between Junagadh and Ahmedabad as a personal contribution toward saving fuel and protecting the country’s foreign exchange reserves.

As part of the initiative, the bank has issued an advisory to its employees, delegates, members, and associates, urging them to support the “Vocal for Local” campaign, reduce unnecessary imports, and adopt responsible practices in national interest.

In a notable move, the bank has decided to grant a 15-minute relaxation in reporting time to employees who commute using public transport such as trains, buses, or carpooling instead of private vehicles.

Kotecha said every small sacrifice made by citizens can strengthen the vision of an “Atmanirbhar Bharat” and reinforce the spirit of national unity and participation.
